Public Housing
The Housing Authority of the City of Bloomington (BHA) is dedicated to providing rental housing to low-income families and individuals in the Bloomington-Normal area. Our Public Housing program offers a stable and supportive environment, ensuring that everyone has access to a home where they can thrive.
Benefits of Public Housing
Affordability
Public Housing ensures that rent remains within reach, with tenants typically paying only 30% of their adjusted monthly income. This allows families to manage their finances better and focus on other essential needs.
Well-Maintained Properties
BHA is dedicated to maintaining properties that meet high-quality standards, offering residents a comfortable and reliable place to live. Our communities are consistently well-maintained and undergo regular inspections to uphold a living environment that residents can depend on.
Community and Support
Living in a BHA community means being part of a supportive network. Residents benefit from various services and programs designed to enhance their quality of life, fostering a strong sense of community.
Sustainability
Public Housing is not just affordable—it’s also sustainable. While tenant rent provides a portion of the necessary funds, the federal government supplements this with monthly operating subsidies, ensuring that BHA can continue to maintain and improve its properties for the long term.
